Chief Ebenzer of Igueben. I found the book enlightening about a part of Nigeria I knew nothing about. It was quite biographical also which made it more interesting than if it was a fairy story! This book is currently passing round my friends who all cannot wait to read it.

After the British displaced the Princess, along with her family and others from the Benin Royal Palace in 1897, she escaped from an arranged marriage to the Duke of Uromi, one of the lands of Benin Kingdom, and resolved to change her future. Photographs of Benin bronze works, and wood sculptures are included throughout the book to add a fuller picture of the talents and skills of the Edo people. Edo and Esan salutations and short dialogues in native language are used throughout the book for authenticity.
