Children and adults who are fans of pirates or stories that rhyme will enjoy Parker the Pierate: The Pirate of Pie! Jacob E.M. Johnson is both author and illustrator of this silly and cheerful pirate tale. Brightly colored images, engaging rhymes, and the story of a clever pie-loving pirate are particularly appealing to preschool and elementary school age children. This book provides a great opportunity to discuss the value of friendship, the way one person's actions may impact others, and the importance of making things right with people you care about when you make a mistake. Parker the Pierate provides the type of fun reading experience that helps children develop a love of reading from an early age, through a story that teachers and parents will enjoy reading to the special children in their life over and over again.Back Cover Book Description: Parker, a pirate, loves pie very much. He goes by the title of Pierate as such. Parker sails in his ship, seeking pies he can eat. He finds a great city just filled with the treat! From every last person who buys it or bakes it, Parker walks up to the pie and just takes it! This silly story, told fully in rhyme, follows Parker's adventures as he pulls off this crime. Parker the Pierate takes center stage with colorful pictures to brighten each page. Will this tricky pirate never stop stealing, or can he learn to care about what others are feeling? This goofy tale will keep children reading, and teaches that sharing feels as good as just eating!
