Paradise Regained is an epic poem written by John Milton, the same author of the famous work Paradise Lost. The poem is divided into four books and tells the story of Jesus Christ's temptation in the wilderness, as described in the Gospel of Matthew and the Gospel of Luke. The poem begins with Satan's return to Earth after his defeat in Paradise Lost. He discovers Jesus in the wilderness and attempts to tempt him with various offers of power and wealth. However, Jesus remains steadfast in his faith and rejects Satan's offers.Throughout the poem, Milton explores themes of temptation, faith, and the struggle between good and evil. He also emphasizes the importance of spiritual strength and moral character in the face of adversity.Overall, Paradise Regained is a powerful work of literature that offers a unique perspective on the story of Jesus Christ's temptation. It is a must-read for anyone interested in epic poetry, religious literature, or the works of John Milton. Now had the great Proclaimer, with a voice More awful than the sound of trumpet, cried Repentance, and Heaven's kingdom nigh at hand To all baptized.
