Panegyricus Ludovico XV. Galliarum Regi In Solenni Natalis Regii Celebratione Anno 1724 Dictus is a classic oration by Johann Daniel Schöpflin, delivered in 1724 to celebrate the birthday of Louis XV, King of France. This eloquent speech offers a fascinating glimpse into the political and social climate of 18th-century France, reflecting the reverence and expectations surrounding the young monarch. Schöpflin's work is a valuable historical document for understanding the role of rhetoric and ceremony in shaping public perception of the French monarchy during this period.
This edition preserves the original text, making it an essential resource for scholars of history, political science, and classical rhetoric. It provides insight into the art of panegyric and its use in legitimizing royal power. The speech offers a unique perspective on Louis XV's early reign and the hopes placed upon him by his contemporaries.
