This is Phillip Guedalla's 1937 biographical book, Palmerston. Henry John Temple, 3rd Viscount Palmerston (1784 - 1865) was a British politician who served twice as Prime Minister in the nineteenth century. This detailed biography delves deep into the life and mind of this remarkably astute, vigorous, and candid statesman who managed to keep England 'on course' during the international visionary-liberal and reactionary waves of the first half of the Victorian era.
