When an analyst specializing in African affairs is found dead in Norfolk, the murder seems linked to government contracts for critical minerals in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The murder victim's penchant for rare birds from the region convinces DCI Domenic Jejeune he must go there to investigate, but Lindy's decision to accompany him to this unpredictable, unstable area exposes them both to danger.
