Originally published in 1951, this volume was created to mark the centenary of The Great Exhibition, an event which came to epitomise the Victorian age through its celebration of British manufacturing and cultural achievements. Through a highly readable narrative, together with numerous illustrations, the reader is given an insight into the contemporary context of the Exhibition and the excitement it engendered in the general public.
