Just as an egg has an outer shell which protects the developing embryo within, the tales, arts and writings protect the developing individual on his or her journey as they begin to take a place in the world. Just as if the shell is broken on the egg the embryo within dies, so when the shell of culture is broken the society dies. It does not take a village to raise a child, rather it takes a society to form the cultural shell around the family and provide the family with common values. This must be done without intrusion or imposition on the rights of the family......
