Os LusÃadas (The Lusiads) is a Portuguese epic poem by LuÃs Vaz de Camões, first published in 1572. It is regarded as Portugal's national epic and one of the most important works of Portuguese literature. The poem celebrates the history of Portugal and the heroic voyages of discovery during the 15th and 16th centuries.
The poem focuses mainly on the 15th-century Portuguese explorations, telling of Vasco da Gama's voyage to India. The Lusiads is often regarded as an epic of the Age of Discovery. It is written in decasyllabic ottava rima and is composed of 1,102 stanzas.
This edition, published in 1921, ensures that Camões' masterpiece remains accessible to new generations of readers, preserving its historical and literary significance.
