Oracle bone script 甲骨文 was the earliest ancient form of Chinese characters written on oracle bones for telling the future. It formed the basis of the Chinese characters which evolved over time and many people use today.

They record divinations of the last kings of the Shang dynasty (1600 BC to 1046 BC).

This is a book in English exclusively about oracle bone characters and their link to today's Chinese characters, as most of the books about oracle bone characters are mostly in Chinese language.

There are some reliable digital and physical resources about the origin of Chinese characters. Because most of them are in Chinese language, it took me around 3 years to translate the words in the process of writing this book.

This book will present pictures hand-drawn by myself with analysis of each oracle bone character. They are arranged in accordance with the Chinese Hanyu pinyin system so to make finding of the characters easier.
