Abena Dakwa is a So Cal native born in Los Angeles, CA. She currently lives in Victorville, CA; loves travel, spicy Alfredo pasta, Sci-Fi/Action films and beaches. Born to a Ghanaian father and an American mother, she is a true African American. Abena, means girl born on Tuesday and if you ask her if she was actually born on a Tuesday she'd reply, Yes, I was born on a Tuesday. But, not the last one! Abena has a MBA degree and is currently writing her dissertation to satisfy the final portion of her doctoral degree program.Abena started her journey as a writer at the tender age of twelve years old. Writing was the only way she was able to fully express herself as a shy, introverted, middle child. Writing is her go to form of therapy and has helped her navigate through the intricacies of life. Abena writes to free the pent up emotion that accumulates over time from the constant tongue biting she endures to spear the feelings of others. In a time when everyone has become overly sensitive to everything, it is refreshing to read a book that is written by an individual who isn't afraid to dream big while remaining open, honest and truthful about how she feels, what she has experienced, and what she seeks. Open Me Up! Is an unforgettable collection of poetry that will touch your soul. For the Love of a ManDedicated to all the women in my life both young and matureWhat would you do for the love of a man?Would you formulate a master plan, That would make him petition for your hand?Would you study old voodoo tells to cast a spell? For the love of a man, would you sell soda cans?Would you study his game and play it just the same?If he thought it was cool, would you act a fool?Would you ride in a hot air balloon in the light of the moon?Would you buy him diamonds and gems?Would you travel to the Ends of the Earth, fight wars, and give Birth;Design cars that travel to Mars;Create new stars to hide old scars;Shed thousands of tears over the course of many years;Hide your pain and your fear, and hope your silent cry he can't hear?Pray every night to have him near?Would you write rhymes to pass the time?Would you by daisies with your dimes?Could you give your all to scale a waterfall?Would you do this?Could you do this? -Just for the love of a man?
