Only A Fiddler! And O. T. V3: Or Life In Denmark is a novel written by Hans Christian Andersen and published in 1845. The book is divided into two parts, with the first part titled Only A Fiddler! and the second part titled O. T. V3: Or Life In Denmark. In Only A Fiddler!, the protagonist is a poor fiddler named Ole, who lives in a small village in Denmark. Despite his talent as a musician, Ole is looked down upon by the villagers and struggles to make ends meet. One day, he meets a wealthy woman named Countess Rosalie, who takes an interest in his music and invites him to play for her at her estate. Ole is initially excited about the opportunity, but soon realizes that the Countess has ulterior motives and that her kindness comes with a price. In O. T. V3: Or Life In Denmark, the story follows the life of a young man named Otto Thostrup (O.T.), who comes from a poor family and dreams of making a name for himself in the world. He moves to Copenhagen to pursue his ambitions and becomes involved in a love triangle with two women, Elsie and Gerda. As he navigates the challenges of love and social status, O.T. also grapples with the harsh realities of life in Denmark, including poverty, class inequality, and political corruption.Overall, Only A Fiddler! And O. T. V3: Or Life In Denmark is a poignant and insightful portrayal of life in 19th-century Denmark, exploring themes of social justice, love, and the pursuit of one's dreams. In Three Volumes. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
