Originally, the man that I interviewed for this book was not to be the main focus. However, his personal story became relevant to understanding where this perspective comes from. The main focus was to be the fact that more than half of the Florida D.O.C. inmate population will be returning to society at some point, possibly as our neighbor. I think we should all be clear on where and what it is that they are returning from. At the same time, I hope to spark a discussion on better methods in ensuring that they return as lawful, productive citizens. The following is a true story. For novel flare, I chose when and how to tell certain parts, otherwise the story is as it was. Of course, names have been changed to protect the people involved, both innocent and guilty. For legal purposes, I have also changed the names of the prisons. I'll conclude with a warning: some readers may find the language within to be rough, crude or even vulgar. And I agree, it is, that's because the environment in which we are visiting, is, rough, crude and vulgar. Let's not pretend otherwise.
