Through Claire, the book explores interesting questions that many of us are encountering in our 30s. Questions of our relationship to technology, our relationship with our work, our relationship with other people. Questions of our IDENTITY - personal, professional, and even sexual. To me, that's what Claire represented - the idea that we're all drifting through our lives, living under certain assumptions about what we want and who we are. At some point, those assumptions need to be challenged. I can't remember the last time I devoured a book like this. After about a third of the way into 'One Match', I thought to myself that I'd be thrilled to see this made into a movie. A couple hours later, after another third of the way in, I realized that I'd be utterly disappointed by how the movie wouldn't be able to capture the intricacies and the depth that the book has to offer. Smart, funny, completely entertaining, a slice of life. The premise - that an algorithm might know us better than we know ourselves - is frighteningly real. You won't want to put it down. Our book club decided to pick this book to read for last month, as one of my friends came across it and the topic of future dating and technology was interesting. This was a fun and easy read and we had such great discussions after this! I don't want to spoil the plot, but we had a VERY LIVELY discussion regarding the ending to the characters and also our lives regarding life choices. Highly recommend to read with friends as a lot of interesting thoughts and opinions will come about--the perfect summer read!
