Enter Bessy and Wendal.
When Bessy's father suffers a debilitating stroke, being an only child, she finds herself in charge of the family's construction business. Bessy, a dedicated teacher, has little desire to give up the teaching job she loves, in order to rescue the family. But her mother has no one else to turn to.

Wendal is a lowly carpenter's apprentice; working to save money for college. His family has its own challenges. After an accident kills his father and disables his brother, his mother depends upon Wendal to bolster the family.
Bessy and Wendal are busy with their own priorities. Neither has an interest in acquiring a companion. And yet, despite their indifference to any notion of romantic attachment, something makes them wary of each other. It is often circumstance, acting as if blind to all restrained caution, which has a way of overriding intention. The introduction of human affection has the power of being a pesky and persistent rascal. Such is the dance of the ages; the stealthy invitation, called attraction.
What transpires between them could be blamed on a secluded lake house. Or it might well be the fault of a pair of stubborn rocks, which begrudge being moved. Or perhaps it is Bessy and Wendal, who can best explain it to you.
