Now in its third imprint, Larry Fike's first chapbook of poems explores the psychology of existence and meaning in contemporary life. The poems' central preoccupation is with accepting the futility of grasping at things that cannot be grasped (air, time, death, eternity), and what linguistic exploration can reveal about the modern project of self-invention. Lawrence Udell Fike, Jr., M.Phil., is an academic philosopher, lyricist, and public speaker who spends most of his time in Southern California deserts and in New York City. Photo credits: Michelle de Lancey. Thanks for the leaves and branches of your poems. Nice reading for a Saturday morning. -Tess Gallagher
