The Our Father is probably a very familiar prayer to most believers. In some ways, that's part of the problem with the prayer; we are so familiar with it that we have forgotten what the words mean. Our Father seeks to remind us of the meaning of the words of one of the most important prayers in scripture. This is the prayer that Jesus Himself taught us to pray. Whenever we pray, we are coming into the presence of God to worship Him and present our petitions to Him. We are coming to lay hold of the love of God, which is somehow already laid hold of us. We know in our hearts that we want the living God, we want to know Him, we want to love Him.
We want to be truly able to call Him Father.
