The Other Side of the Neighborhood tells the story of an Oil & Gas Engineer who marries a beautiful, learned and elegant friend from college, expecting his new family will bring him pride and happiness. However, her lack of libido changes the marriage dynamics altogether, bringing disappointment and unhappiness to her husband, whose misguided decisions will ultimately have a profound and unexpected impact not only on his life, but also on the lives of those around him. Set in Brazil, this fictional book is a light-hearted account of how some people think, act, interact and make important decisionst while going about with their lives. It is a subtle and yet revealing portrait of the other side of some neighbourhoods, whose secrets are closely guarded so that society does not judge them by what they are, but instead by what they appear to be. Allegorical, topical, eye-opening, satyrical, ironic, caustic, enthralling, this novel is a must read and will cater for all those interested in getting some insights into Brazilian culture.
