On Some Defects In Public School Education is a book written by F. W. Farrar and published in 1867. The book is a transcript of a lecture delivered by the author at the Royal Institution on February 8th, 1867. In the lecture, Farrar discusses the issues and shortcomings he sees in the education system of public schools. He argues that the current system is too focused on rote memorization and neglects the development of critical thinking skills. Farrar proposes several solutions to these issues, including a more comprehensive curriculum and a greater emphasis on practical skills. The book provides a fascinating insight into the educational practices of the 19th century and remains relevant today as many of the issues Farrar identifies still exist in modern education systems. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
