Does your child feel nervous about the first day of school? Tillie Belle the Turtle does too-but she's about to discover that even the smallest shell can carry big courage.
On First Day Jitters is a heartwarming, funny, and reassuring picture book for ages 4-8 about overcoming anxiety, building bravery, and embracing new beginnings. From her heavy backpack to her wiggly feet at the classroom door, Tillie Belle's first day of school is filled with big feelings, small stumbles, and just-right wins.
Perfect for preschoolers, kindergarteners, and early elementary readers, this relatable story gently explores themes of emotional readiness, social courage, and slow-and-steady confidence. Along the way, readers will giggle, cheer, and maybe even whisper, Me too, as Tillie faces everything from loud school bells to lunchtime mix-ups.
Includes thoughtful reflection questions on each page to help children express their own first-day feelings-an excellent tool for parents, teachers, and counselors supporting school readiness and emotional development.
