Olmsted in Canada provides a comprehensive history of the American Olmsted Firm's profound and often overlooked influence on the Canadian landscape. While Frederick Law Olmsted Sr. is world-renowned for co-designing New York's Central Park, his legacy in Canada has frequently been reduced to one design, Montreal's Mount Royal Park. This publication re-examines the breadth of the Olmsted Firm's Canadian works in the context of the Canadian urban reform movements of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. It reveals how much of the Olmsted influence in Canada results not so much from the Firm's built projects as from the work of their so-called Canadian disciples.
