The Old Grouch and Mr Groo, the second book in Sally Wilson's The Lala Chronicles series, opens a world where whimsy and wisdom meld seamlessly in the lives of two new, yet timeless comical characters, the Old Grouch and Mr Groo.
An adventure for the young and young at heart into the wild of our own vulnerabilities and strengths, this beautiful, playful poetry embraces the imaginative, messy, and magnificent journey - the shared experiences and fears that unite us all. An interactive blend of whimsical wordplay, art, wit and music fosters a sense of connection, engagement and shared delight among parents and children, grandparents, friends, and teachers alike.
These unique, rhyming, fun-filled stories not only invite readers to voice the lines aloud but also offer a beautiful blend of full-colour art and recorded music. Each volume, beautifully illustrated by Sally, features a QR code linking to recorded music with a song setting of each story. This allows readers to read or sing along with the verses produced by Wilson, with the musical collaboration of Dr. Mark Kruger. 'The Old Grouch and Mr Groo' is not just a book; it's an innovative experience that fosters moments of shared delight among parents and children, friends, and teachers alike. Whether you read it quietly before bed or perform it as theatrically as your heart desires, this is storytelling entertainment at its finest.
Themes of friendship, simplifying the seemingly complex, self-acceptance and celebrating the differences we all exhibit are woven into beautiful prose.
'There's no escaping the truth, my dear old friend, you'rePerfectly old, Perfectly ugly, I say, perfectly you.'Experience the sheer joy of discovery and the enchanting magic of acceptance with 'The Old Grouch and Mr Groo.'
