It is a continuation of the story of Odysseus, a hero of the Trojan War, who is trying to return home to his wife and son in Ithaca after a decade of fighting. The poem is divided into 24 books, each describing the various adventures and challenges that Odysseus encounters on his journey. In this particular version of the poem, published in 1725, the text has been translated into English by Alexander Pope.
