The Oceanides: Poems And Translations is a collection of poetry and translations by Percy William Shedd, originally published in 1902. The book is divided into two parts: the first part contains original poems by Shedd, while the second part contains translations of works by various poets, including Virgil, Horace, and Dante. The poems in the first part of the book are inspired by the ocean and its various moods and aspects, and range in tone from contemplative and meditative to celebratory and exuberant. The translations in the second part of the book are faithful to the original texts, and aim to capture the spirit and beauty of the original works. The Oceanides is a beautiful and evocative collection of poetry and translations, and is sure to appeal to lovers of poetry and the sea alike. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
