John Climenhaga got his Bachelor of Music degree in composition from Bowling Green State University in 1986 and promptly headed for Santa Barbara, California with local reggae/rock legends Crucial DBC as their audio engineer and manager. While touring with Crucial and producing 4 albums over the next 7 years his compositional muse surfaced in the written word. The juxtaposition of wealth in Santa Barbara and political and cultural oppression worldwide was the kindling for his curiosity. After Crucial disbanded he took on Gasoline, a hard rock outfit from Ventura, California. Another four albums later and more short stories emerged. This time the hard scrabble blue collar folk of Ventura served as his inspiration. With lead singer Vince Riverside's ascension to the film industry John began a new journey through the entertainment jungle of Hollywood. Retreating to Santa Barbara after being totally disaffected with pursuing art as a career John found that there was still value in sharing art outside of a career. Here is his collection of short stories, poems, drawings and notes from paradise.
