Northward To Babylon is a novel written by The Scribbler and published in 1870. The story follows the journey of a young man named Ralph Osborn, who leaves his home in Virginia to seek his fortune in the North during the Civil War. Along the way, he meets a variety of characters, including a runaway slave, a Union soldier, and a group of Quakers who are aiding the Underground Railroad. As Ralph travels further north, he becomes increasingly disillusioned with the war and the idea of slavery, and begins to question his own beliefs and values. Ultimately, he finds himself in the midst of the Battle of Gettysburg, where he must confront his own fears and prejudices. Northward To Babylon is a powerful and thought-provoking novel that explores themes of identity, morality, and the human cost of war. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
