A gripping collection of poems scratched out along the road, delineating surreal scenes, epiphanies, reconciliation and moments of vivid clarity. The author's experiential insights extract meaning from a personal altercation with death, periods of doom and demoralization, the euphoria found in lust-colored love and the feel of calm soaking into the bones. This collection tackles emotionally complex topics with poignancy, humor and philosophical edginess. Part One, Reflections offer a brutal, authentic focus on things demanding honest inquiry. The physical and emotional logic swing from subdued and melancholy to simple sunny and the implacable enemy of conformity, knocking on doors sheltering controversy and discomfort. Part Two, Observations provide an examination of ingrained assumptions and world view, thus tempting a deconstruction of fixed thought. This section glimpses the mysteries of the external and transcendent, and how they may affect the individual psyche. Part three, Odes pays homage to those who've assisted in shaping the pursuit of purpose, self-awareness and a capacity to see best in others. This collection closes with Nolan's Poem... a piece inspired by real events, offering a peek into the forthcoming novel: On Troubled Roads to Everywhere... a fascinatingly depraved and brutal yet savagely funny and inspirational telling of a boy's cry from hell.
