Nine Colonies is a historical book written by Fritz Geroldt and published in 1881. The book provides a detailed account of the nine colonies established by Germany in Africa during the late 19th century. These colonies include Togo, Cameroon, German South West Africa (now Namibia), German East Africa (now Tanzania, Rwanda, and Burundi), and others. Geroldt describes the political, economic, and social conditions in each colony, including the role of German officials and settlers in shaping the development of these territories. The author also examines the impact of colonialism on the indigenous populations, including the forced labor and exploitation of resources that occurred under German rule. The book includes numerous illustrations and maps to help readers visualize the geography and culture of each colony. Geroldt's writing style is engaging and informative, making this book an excellent resource for anyone interested in the history of colonialism in Africa. Overall, Nine Colonies provides a comprehensive overview of Germany's colonial ambitions in Africa and the legacy of these efforts in the present day. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
