Nathan dreams of becoming a knight, but doesn't know where to start until a magical old woman tells him the secret to becoming a knight. Now Nathan knows what he has to do, but can he do what it takes to become a knight and save his village? Join Nathan on his journey to become a knight and learn the power of persistence, courage, and kindness in the face of doubt and adversity!
Incorporating research findings on what characteristics help kids succeed, Nathan and the Knights tells a story kids will love, and at the same time teaches them to value the traits that lead to success in life. Nathan and the Knights emphasizes the universal virtues of Courage, Strength, Kindness, Leadership, Self-confidence, and most importantly Perseverance in the face of adversity.
Despite his humble beginnings, Nathan dreams of becoming a knight. When a man outside the castle tells him his dream is impossible, he is very disappointed. On the way back to his farm, a magical old woman tells him that the secret to becoming a knight is to do a good deed, a strong deed and a brave deed every day.
Nathan sets out to do just that, and as he grows, he becomes stronger, braver and more kind. Everyone in the village loves Nathan because he helps everyone.
Then one day, an army comes to rob the village. Nathan knows what to do, and together, Nathan and his neighbors build a castle to keep themselves, their families and their animals safe.
Even though the army is frightening, Nathan stands his ground, and eventually the army runs out of food and leaves.
The village rejoices! Nathan has saved them all! Hoisting him on their shoulders, the villagers proclaim Nathan the Knight of their Castle. His dream has come true!
With 24 pages of beautiful watercolor artwork From Tashna Gill, kids will be enthralled by the illustrations and enchanted by a story that sneakily teaches the importance of courage, hard work, and being a good neighbor.
Written by a US Marine for his son and based on the Positive Psychology movement's universal virtues that cross all historical, cultural, religious and philosophical divides, Nathan and the Knights gives parents a chance to talk about important life lessons with their kids. Stories reflect our culture, but telling them to our kids forms it. Let's teach them to be the people we all wish we could be!
