This fictional Novel book series (5 books) follows the life journey of Alejandro Sierra Jr. If you were to ask, Who the heck is Alejandro Sierra Jr.? Well, he was neither rich nor famous; he was just your average Mexican American, a minority in the public eye, a commoner, a son of El Paso, Texas. Most Mexican Americans in the area are called Tex-Mex (Texas/Mexican). As a working-class minority American, he continually strives to improve himself with what little he has. The question is, is the life of a common person really common? We are all different with unique life journeys to travel regardless of the time period or location. He believes that our lives on this earth are what we, as individuals, interpret and accept as truth, not what others tell us to believe. After we see or do something, we form our own conclusions about what life means, and this story reflects his view of the world, especially of love. The 1st book (A Novel Book 1of 5) reflects Alejandro's growing up and coming of age in a rough barrio (neighborhood), experiencing love and sex for the first time, learning to live with the breakup, and, as a result, joining the U.S. Navy to get away from it all. The 2nd book reflects his time in the military: meeting and having an unexpected, heartfelt relationship (to last him forever), losing her, meeting another girl in Cannes, France who follows him to Vietnam (a war zone at the time), and returning home to an unwelcomed nation (the anti-war movement). The 3rd book shows him returning home to complete his high school requirements, meeting another girl, getting into an illegal business venture with some neighborhood friends, getting into a gunfight in Mexico where a friend gets killed, leaving home and going to Los Angeles, California, going to college, getting into photography, and seeing and meeting his true love at first sight. The 4th book shows him getting married, starting off with nothing, changing career paths, getting into IT (Information Technology) and eventually management, while the 5th book shows what happens after retiring, making it through his junior-senior and senior-senior years, starting another business venture in real estate, and finally passing away. As simple as that sounds, the story primarily focuses on his thoughts about the present, past, and future, as well as the actions and reactions he undertook to survive. If you pause and think about it for a moment, our lives are composed mainly of thoughts, with some actions and reactions. Additionally, it's not just a story about meeting new people and seeing new places as part of the aging process, but also about discovering what life was truly all about, at least from his perspective. Sometimes, he reaches a conclusion or result from an observation he had been noticing for some time. He's not trying to persuade the reader to think like him; maybe he's just simply trying to help the reader better understand him, the main character. Be advised that the protagonist (main character) sometimes repeats himself, as if to clarify what he previously said or thought, probably as a way to justify what he said or did earlier, or maybe because he cannot let go of a troubling event that won't leave his mind. Please note that repetition runs throughout the story. Nevertheless, be advised that the underlying theme of this story is sexual (Adult) in nature, even though other realizations of life are discussed, such as Learning, Joy, Sadness, Pain, Travel, War (Vietnam), Love, Religion (Christianity), Schooling (College), Photography, IT Management, and Death.
