Nicolai Klimii Iter Subterraneum Novam Telluris Theoriam, also known as Journey to the Center of the Earth is a science fiction novel written by the Danish author, Ludvig Holberg, under the pseudonym Klimius Nicolaus. The book was originally published in Latin in 1741 and tells the story of a young man named Nicolai Klim who falls into a hole and finds himself in a fantastical underground world. The novel is divided into three parts, with the first part describing Klim's fall into the hole and his subsequent journey through a series of underground chambers and tunnels. In the second part, Klim encounters a variety of strange creatures and societies, including a race of giants and a kingdom of bird people. Finally, in the third part, Klim discovers a way to return to the surface and shares his experiences with the world. The book is notable for its imaginative descriptions of the underground world and its inhabitants, as well as its exploration of scientific and philosophical ideas. It was one of the earliest examples of the science fiction genre and has influenced many later works, including Jules Verne's Journey to the Center of the Earth. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
