First published in hardcover in 1986 and a paperback bestseller in the U.S. and U.K. in 1987, NEVADA is a gripping story about the growth of gaming in that state from 1920 to 1982. It follows the life of Meade Slaughter from a fourteen-year-old boy working in carnivals to one of the most powerful hotel and casino owners in Nevada. This is storytelling at it's best, with romance, tragedy, defeat, triumph, murder, revenge, beautiful women and real characters like Wilbur Clark, Beldon Katelman, Bill Harrah, Pappy Smith and his son, Harold and Benjamin Bugsy Siegel who peopled the colorful history of the Silver State.
