Neurasthenia Sexualis is a book written by Bernard Simon Talmey in 1912. The book is a treatise on sexual impotence in men and women, and it explores the causes, symptoms, and treatments for this condition. Talmey was a neurologist and psychiatrist who specialized in the study of sexual disorders, and this book is a product of his extensive research and clinical experience. The book begins with an introduction to the concept of neurasthenia, which Talmey defines as a nervous disorder characterized by weakness, fatigue, and irritability. He then goes on to discuss the role that sexual dysfunction plays in the development of neurasthenia, and he provides detailed descriptions of the various forms of sexual impotence that can occur in both men and women.Talmey explores the psychological and physiological factors that can contribute to sexual dysfunction, including anxiety, depression, hormonal imbalances, and physical illness. He also discusses the various treatments that were available at the time, including psychotherapy, medication, and surgical interventions.Throughout the book, Talmey emphasizes the importance of understanding the complex interplay between the mind and body in the development of sexual dysfunction. He argues that a holistic approach is necessary for the successful treatment of this condition, and he provides practical advice for both patients and healthcare professionals.Overall, Neurasthenia Sexualis is a comprehensive and insightful exploration of sexual impotence in men and women. It is a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history of sexual medicine, as well as for those seeking to understand and treat this common and often debilitating condition. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
