The Nestorian Monument, An Ancient Record Of Christianity In China: With Special Reference To The Expedition Of Frits V. Holm (1909) is a historical book written by Frits Holm. The book explores the history of Christianity in China through the examination of the Nestorian Monument, an ancient stone tablet that was discovered in China in the 17th century. The monument, which dates back to the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD), contains inscriptions in Chinese and Syriac that provide valuable information about the Nestorian Church in China during that time period. In this book, Holm provides a detailed analysis of the monument and its inscriptions, shedding light on the Nestorian Church's activities in China, its beliefs, and its interactions with the Chinese people. He also discusses the significance of the monument for the history of Christianity in China and its importance for understanding the country's religious and cultural heritage. Furthermore, the book focuses on Holm's own expedition to China in 1908-1909, during which he conducted research on the monument and its inscriptions. Holm's personal experiences and observations during his expedition are also included in the book, providing readers with a firsthand account of his journey and the challenges he faced in his research. Overall, The Nestorian Monument, An Ancient Record Of Christianity In China: With Special Reference To The Expedition Of Frits V. Holm (1909) is a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history of Christianity in China, the Nestorian Church, and the country's cultural heritage. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
