Neither Rome Nor Judah is a historical novel written by Ernest Hoven and published in 1872. The story is set in ancient Rome and follows the life of a Jewish family living in the city during the reign of Emperor Tiberius. The family is torn between their loyalty to their Jewish heritage and their desire to assimilate into Roman society. The protagonist, a young Jewish man named Joseph, is caught in the middle of this struggle and must navigate the complex political and social landscape of the time. Along the way, he falls in love with a Roman woman, further complicating his allegiances. As tensions rise between the Jewish community and the Roman authorities, Joseph must make a difficult decision about where his loyalties lie. The novel explores themes of identity, loyalty, and the clash of cultures in a vivid historical setting. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
