Narrative of the Ashantee War: With a View of the Present State of the Colony of Sierra Leone is a historical account written by H. I. Ricketts in 1831. The book details the Ashanti War, which took place between 1823 and 1831, and provides an overview of the current state of the Sierra Leone colony. Ricketts describes the Ashanti War as a conflict between the British and the Ashanti people of West Africa. The war was fought over control of the lucrative trade routes in the region, which were essential for the British economy. The book provides a detailed account of the battles, strategies, and tactics used by both sides during the war. In addition to the war, Ricketts also provides an overview of the Sierra Leone colony. He describes the geography, climate, and people of the region. He also discusses the economic, social, and political conditions of the colony. Overall, Narrative of the Ashantee War: With a View of the Present State of the Colony of Sierra Leone is a valuable historical document that provides insight into the Ashanti War and the state of the Sierra Leone colony in the early 19th century. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
