A Narrative Of The First Burmese War, 1824-26 is a historical account of the conflict between the British Empire and the Kingdom of Burma, written by George William DeRhe-Philipe and originally published in 1905. The book provides a detailed overview of the war, which began when the Burmese invaded British-held territories in India and escalated into a full-scale conflict that lasted over two years. DeRhe-Philipe draws on a variety of sources, including official military reports, personal accounts, and contemporary news articles, to provide a comprehensive and vivid description of the events of the war. He covers the major battles, including the British capture of Rangoon and the Burmese defense of the city of Prome, as well as the political and diplomatic maneuverings that shaped the conflict. In addition to its historical value, A Narrative Of The First Burmese War also offers insights into the cultural and social context of the conflict, including the attitudes of the British and Burmese towards each other and the impact of the war on local communities. Overall, the book provides a fascinating glimpse into a pivotal moment in the history of British imperialism in Asia. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
