The Narrative of Robert Adams is a first-hand account of the experiences of Robert Adams, a sailor who was shipwrecked on the western coast of Africa in the year 1810. The book was originally published in 1816 and has since become an important historical document, offering a unique perspective on the African slave trade and the culture and customs of the people of West Africa during the early 19th century.Adams' story begins with his capture by a group of Arab slave traders, who took him and his fellow crew members captive after their ship was wrecked off the coast of Mauritania. Adams was eventually sold as a slave and spent several years living and working in various parts of West Africa, including Timbuktu, where he was forced to convert to Islam.Throughout his ordeal, Adams maintained his will to survive and eventually managed to escape from his captors with the help of a sympathetic trader. He then made his way to the British colony of Sierra Leone, where he was eventually able to return to England. The Narrative of Robert Adams provides a vivid and detailed account of the horrors of the African slave trade, as well as a fascinating glimpse into the culture and customs of West Africa during the early 19th century. It is a compelling and important work of historical literature that continues to be studied and admired to this day.Was Detained Three Years In Slavery By The Arabs Of The Great Desert, And Resided Several Months In The City Of Tombuctoo. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
