'My Friend Leaf'
Heartfelt story about a boy who is starting a new school. He doesn't have any friends but walking through the school gate he sees this perfect shiny green leaf laying on the ground. He thinks to himself I will be your friend today, will you be mine?
During the symmetry lesson Sam realises his friend Leaf has a perfect line of symmetry and in nature there are many examples of symmetry.
A friend comes in all shapes and sizes. All you need are curious open eyes.
When you feel lonely look to nature for a friend. Whether it is a pet rock, a stick, a gumnut, a seashell, or a chestnut. It is up to your imagination! Connection is everywhere.
Target Market for My Friend Leaf would be;
School age group; 5-9 year-olds.
A child who is new to a school or moving to a new neighbourhood where they may not know anyone.
A teacher who is introducing symmetry to a class.
