My First Summer In The Sierra is a book written by John Muir and published in 1917. The book is a personal account of Muir's experiences during his first summer in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California in 1869. The book is divided into several chapters, each of which describes a different aspect of Muir's experience in the mountains. In the book, Muir describes the natural beauty of the Sierra Nevada mountains, including the flora and fauna that he encountered during his travels. He also describes his interactions with the indigenous people who lived in the area, as well as his encounters with other travelers who he met on his journey. Throughout the book, Muir emphasizes the importance of preserving the natural beauty of the Sierra Nevada mountains and other wilderness areas. He advocates for the protection of these areas from human development and exploitation, and he encourages readers to appreciate and respect the natural world around them. Overall, My First Summer In The Sierra is a beautifully written and insightful book that offers a unique perspective on the natural beauty of the Sierra Nevada mountains and the importance of preserving wilderness areas for future generations. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
