This is the fourth volume in a series of multi-authored, heavily illustrated works dealing with encounters between Jews and Muslims in South Asia. A fifth volume dealing with Jews in Pakistan and Bangladesh is forthcoming for publication. Articles about Indian and foreign Jews as well as those with Jewish roots have been included in this book. Each story is different, allowing exploration of diverse subjects without forcing them into the Procrustean bed of a single narrative. What is common to these stories is that each couple made individual choices about their religious identities and spouses. In several cases, it is obvious that members of the Jewish spouse's family had very diverse lifestyles in terms of religious identity and practice as well as nationality.
