After the collapse of the dollar, the United States has fallen into anarchy and Martial Law has been declared. Susan DiGiovanni, formerly a typical Jersey Girl, and Daniel Sampson, a retired Marine, have taken refuge in the Ramapo Mountains. Sampson, once a member of an elite Special Forces unit, is actually an assassin who was hired to kill Susan. Instead, he has fallen for her. Susan has no idea that Sampson is actually a cold-blooded killer who has duped her into joining forces with him. Susan has access immeasurable wealth, including gold, and is anxious to reach her compatriots, Michelle and Carlos. They have to figure out how to preserve their fortunes, as well as safeguard their lives from an emerging group of elitists who are trying to take over the world. At the same time, they have to figure out how to stop a man-made virus the elitists have unleashed to reduce the population of the world. When the President cedes power to Andrew Stevens, the front man for a cabal of the neo-aristocracy, there is a mad scramble for dominion. Even as the super-rich try to consolidate their positions and subjugate the masses, General Smythe, the military commander behind the bloodless coup, and Maxwell York, the aging architect of the Neo-feudalist movement, engage in a struggle to control the new world order.
