Mildly for Now, Maybe Forever

A cozy small-town mystery-romance about second chances, stubborn flowers, and love that won't stop.

The bell chose hope that morning. It often does in Willowend, where weddings are planned at kitchen tables and the past shows up like an uninvited relative. Seventy-six year old Betty Wilding, retired botany professor with a garden that has opinions, and Daniel Wren, the man she once lost by inches, are helping plan a simple backyard wedding for her niece Megan and his son Mark. Simple, until a card slides under Betty's door with four words in her late mother's hand:

What begins with cake tastings and seating charts turns into a decades-old trail of gentian-blue ink, quiet maps, and the challenges of old age, new love, and life's complexities. Each clue pulls Betty and Daniel closer. As younger couple's wedding day nears and the flower-cipher blooms, Betty must decide whether duty wears fear's coat, or whether she'll say yes while there is still time.

Clean, funny, and a little bit haunted by the past (in the best way), this is a story about people who choose each other on purpose, even when history tries to interrupt.

Perfect for readers who enjoy later-in-life romance, found family, and mysteries that untie themselves with compassion rather than fire.
