Methodus Inveniendi Lineas Curvas Maximi Minimive Proprietate Gaudentes, also known as The Method of Finding Curves Enjoying Maxima and Minima Properties, is a mathematical treatise written by the famous Swiss mathematician Leonhard Euler in 1744. The book presents a new method for finding curves that have maximum or minimum values of certain properties, such as length, area, or curvature. Euler's method, known as the calculus of variations, involves finding the function that minimizes or maximizes a certain integral, subject to certain constraints. The book includes a detailed explanation of the calculus of variations and its applications, as well as numerous examples and exercises to help readers understand the concepts presented. Methodus Inveniendi Lineas Curvas Maximi Minimive Proprietate Gaudentes is considered a landmark work in the history of mathematics and has had a significant impact on the development of calculus and other areas of mathematics. It is still widely studied and referenced today by mathematicians and students of mathematics. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
