Each heart is alike in that it performs certain functions: falls, thunders, stutters, pounds, skips, flutters, thuds, and eventually... stops.
What it also does incredibly well is heal.
Or so my court-appointed therapist tells me. I have yet to believe her.
I lost my husband recently. It was sudden. Completely out of the blue. I'm depressed. Broken. But the holidays are coming up and I'm doing my best to put on a brave face. When I arrive at my best friend's holiday party, I'm reintroduced to Liam, who just lost his wife.
He's back in town to be closer to his family and he's sleeping on a futon at his brother's house. And I have a bunch of bedrooms that aren't being used. It's not a big deal to offer him a space to rent in my home. Right?
Except that the more time we spend together, the more secrets we share, the more I want. But am I ready?
Liam
If each heart is alike, we can find common ground with anyone. We all can love and lose. My heart used to beat for my wife, but not anymore. Not since ALS finally took her.
So I came home. And then a friend-of-a-friend-a widow-offers me a room for rent in her massive house on the beach. I'd be an idiot not to accept it.
But now that I find myself spending time with her, the more I find that home is starting to feel like her.
The problem is that we're not in the same place. How am I supposed to live with a woman I'm falling in love with when she's nowhere near ready for something that serious?
Meet Me at Home is a full-length, interconnected standalone romance featuring strong language, mature themes, and struggles with mental health. While this book is the first in a series, Liam and Kate do get their happy ending within these pages.
