Swift days bled into longer nights. Sunlight grew shorter and shorter and leaves began to tumble to the ground. All was silent, apart from the few woodland creatures, timid in their exploration of what was. As the doe lifted her ear, giving it a twitch as a cool breeze kissed her short fur, I took my last breath.
