ENGLISH DESCRIPTION
Unfaithful husbands, eternal lovers who always forgive, imaginative widows... all gather in these pages where stories of love and the difficult art of coexistence are woven together.
The protagonists of these wonderful stories defy the passage of time, chase away the sadness of separations and misunderstandings, or celebrate small shared victories. They are couples in suspense, on the verge of being and ceasing to be: fugitive, changing, quarrelsome, joyful, and impossible to renounce.
After years apart, and while playing a game of chess, Julia Corzas tells stories of love and heartbreak to her third husband, who surrenders to the warmth of her voice. From her imagination come unfaithful husbands who never tire of betraying, eternal lovers who always forgive, widows who still dream of happiness, friends amazed by life's twists, boyfriends who come and go without fully saying goodbye, and husbands who still manage to surprise. All gather in these pages, which seek the elusive spark of the couple, the place where life battles against habit.
Ángeles Mastretta offers unforgettable situations and characters forged with the unmistakable mark of her wit. Through rich, colloquial language and a tone of complicity, almost of confidences, Mastretta recaptures the spirit of Mujeres de ojos grandes, a magical work that has already captivated more than one million readers.
