The Bible has a lot to say about how events in the world will pan out towards the end of time. These prophetic scriptures predict the second coming of Jesus Christ and the judgment of evil. However, before Christ's return, there would be an era of widespread lawlessness championed by the Antichrist and his evil coalition. Believers in different eras have always been curious about when these events would take place. It is no different with believers today. This book, The Mystery of Iniquity & The Rise of the Antichrist, does not leave readers in the dark. Not only does it lay out the order of some major end time events, as contained in the second letter of Paul to the Thessalonians, it also unveils the secret operation responsible for the rise of iniquity and the falling away of many. It brings the scriptures to life and sees the disorder in the world today in the light of God's prophetic declarations. The rise of lawlessness and the revealing of the son of perdition (the Antichrist) are topics that act as a magnet for some and a deterrent to others. Nonetheless, Paul wrote to Timothy, saying that all Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. So, we must acknowledge a real debt to those who not only draw us towards less familiar verses but cause us to consider them in a wider context. These are the authors who prevent us from being side-tracked, either by our over-caution or by our over-enthusiasm. It would be hard to find a more balanced approach to 2 Thessalonians 2 than that offered here by Tokunbo Emmanuel.
