About the Author
Aron Nimzowitsch (1886-1935) was one of the greatest chess players of his era, ranked among the top three players in the world during the late 1920s and widely considered the most original chess thinker of the twentieth century. Born in Riga, Latvia, he spent much of his career in Scandinavia and became a dominant force in European tournament chess. Along with My System he authored Chess Praxis and Blockade, completing a trilogy of theoretical works that together constitute one of the most significant contributions to chess literature ever made. His hypermodern school of thought - developed alongside Richard Réti and Savielly Tartakower - revolutionized opening theory and strategic thinking in ways that persist to the present day.
