This is Abdullah Ibn Abdul-Kareem's first published collection of poetry. My Mind On Jazz is for times sat silently listening to the sounds of instruments strumming and thoughts bursting with emotion - from there on to paper. This debut collection is a window into the inner world of a young mind growing, questioning, and becoming. Written throughout my youth, these poems capture raw reflections on identity, love, loss, curiosity, and the quiet moments that often go unnoticed.
Each piece serves as a snapshot in time - a record of the thoughts, emotions, and dreams that shaped my journey from adolescence into early adulthood. The rhythm of jazz threads through many of these moments, echoing the improvisation and emotion that guided my pen. From scribbled notebook margins to late-night revisions, poetry became my refuge and release.
These poems aren't just words on a page - they're pieces of my story, shaped by the people, places, and inner melodies that left lasting impressions. Whether you're a fellow writer, a lover of poetry, or simply someone navigating the changes of growing up, this book offers something familiar, honest, and heartfelt. It honors the process of becoming - and invites you to listen in.
